Music

I compose music too! Though not as often as I end up creating visual artwork. All the pieces of music available here are in MIDI format, which means all the file does is tell your computer's soundcard which instruments need to be played when they need to be played and so on, so the quality of the music varies from soundcard to soundcard. Any mp3 versions of music provided will sound exactly as they did to me when I was composing them, however. Also, none of the music here was meant to be used by anyone other than myself, so please do not use them in any projects or anything.

All of the music below was composed using either DirectMusic Producer or Sibelius.

A simplistic piece of music composed in Sibelius for the sake of practising. It could be thought of as the music equivalent of a sketch, perhaps. It uses only the harp as an instrument, but could probably be played well enough on the piano. It's also apparently much easier for me to give things nonsense titles instead of bothering with serious ones!

Apparently it's been ages since I've finished composing a piece of music! This one makes me think of dancing, mystical blue lights in a forest at night or something else with black and blue colours or something. It has a silly title since I'm not very good at actually thinking of titles for things.

This piece of music was composed for a game thing I was making for the sake of learning ActionScript. This played in a rather greyish forest with mushrooms and glowing orange bits and seems to sound strange played as a midi outside DirectMusic Producer.

This one sounds dissonant in some bits and has a strange feel to it that I'm not sure I can really describe. Again, I was being experimental (as I tend to like to be?!) with the pizzicato strings and certain other bits and uh... yes!

This piece of music apparently makes me think of some kind of mysterious, underground civilisation or the ruins of such a civilisation.

Something I was particularly proud of when I finished it. It gave me strong reddish-orange feelings or something.

I was being sort of experimental with this and ended up with an interesting music-box sort of feel. Being old though, it's probably embarrassing in some ways. I don't know what ways though since I haven't listened to it in ages.

This is the second or third thing I ever composed. It's rather repetitive and sort of embarrassing to have available for the public to listen to, but uh... here it is anyway.
