Welcome to Sabre's Sanctum
This website is devoted to showcasing the creative endeavours of Firequill; however, this mostly consists of visual art. As well as art and things, there are also a number of tutorials available to hopefully help improve the skills of beginner artists as well as a forum to share your ideas and creations. I have some ニュース to share! (That's 'news'. Or nyu-su.)
I will be going to school this June to study 3D modelling and animation for games and television!
So you never know, you might start seeing 3D art from me eventually. That's pretty much the 'big news of the year'.
Pertinent to this site though, I know I said way back that I was going to redesign the site and give it all sorts of new features, which I had for the most part made and tested, but I could never decide on a website design I could be happy with. Community-related things were also being a pain and were daunting to work on and eventually I just ended up feeling all burnt-out and have barely even had the energy to update my site with new art (the lack of a proper art submission form does not help). I may attempt again to redesign the site, but if I do, I might put more focus on the content the site provides and a lot less on 'community' features that are used so sparingly anyway. I was thinking that I might fuse the 'art blog' and this main page, so all the art-related stuff and site stuff end up in the same place. I might still keep a simple comment system so I could potentially get some feedback and know there are people out there watching, but I'll likely abandon the whole 'forum' idea, the message centre, etc. If the site were to magically get popular one day, I could re-add such things, but I don't think I can muster the effort to actually make them if nobody is going to use them.
And I'm still studying Japanese. I will be a happy little scallop if I be come English/日本語 bilingual. I dread having to learn to type in Japanese though. I've just been using a handwriting to text thing to write Japanese on my computer.

Happy New Year and holidays and stuff! Even though it's already a week into January. I don't have a whole lot to show today, though I should be updating the site with a new piece of art quickly.
I've been preoccupied for the last month or so with learning Japanese, which I've taken on as a new 'hobby' and 'project', I suppose. I'm having a lot of fun with it and it's refreshing to have something new to do with my time. I wish I had some site updates to show since I did so much want to change the look and functionality of the site, but that might have to wait. After my multiple failed attempts at finding a new site design that I can be happy with, I'm feeling a little burned out and put off from the idea of doing any website-related stuff.
Maybe I'll get the motivation to work on the site again sometime, but until then:
まいにち、日本語をべんきょうしたい。
Or, y'know, something.
